Winging It

Ah, the end of the year—a magical time when we collectively pause to wonder, Where did the last 12 months go? Wasn’t it January just five minutes ago? But here we are, staring down the barrel of another New Year, which means it’s time for that beloved tradition: reflecting on the past year and setting intentions for the next. Let’s be honest, though—this doesn’t have to be a high-stakes activity. Forget the pressure to have your life perfectly mapped out by midnight on December 31. That’s not the vibe we’re going for here. Instead, grab a coffee, tea, or glass of wine (no judgment), and let’s take stock of the year with humor, gratitude, and just a dash of chaos.

My EOY plan:

-I am committed to celebrating things I have accomplished both small and large. I finally organized that one drawer. I introduced myself to a neighbor. I have blogged now for over a year! These are all worth toasting.

-As for next year, I am keeping it light. Setting intentions is about pointing yourself in the right direction, not scripting every move. Want to prioritize rest? Great. Thinking about taking a class, going on more walks, or trying new hobbies? Perfect. There’s no rule that says you need a vision board with color-coded timelines to succeed.

-Here’s the best part: you don’t need to know exactly what you’re doing. None of us do, really. Life’s beauty lies in its unpredictability, and some of the best moments happen when we embrace the unknown. So, I am headed into the new year with the spirit of spontaneity, a little carefree, and a lot forgiving of my own humanity.

As the clock ticks toward midnight, remember this: you’ve made it through another year, and that’s a feat in itself. Celebrate the messy, beautiful, imperfect journey you’re on. The future doesn’t need you to have all the answers—it just needs you to keep showing up. So here’s to closing out this year with laughter, gratitude, and maybe a dance move or two. And here’s to stepping into the next with an open heart and a playful spirit. Cheers to not having it all figured out—and loving every minute of it!
